I’m a foreign job seeker looking for a job in Canada. How do I create a user account?

As a foreign job seeker, you have different options available to you to help you search for jobs. You can decide which one suits you the best.

You can create a Standard account to have access to the Resume Builder, to create job alerts, to save your favourite jobs and to keep track of your job search activity. This type of account only requires an email address.

To create a Standard account, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Job Bank for Job Seekers and click on "Sign up now!".
  2. Click on “Standard account”.
  3. Read the Privacy Statement and Terms of Use. Click on "I agree".
  4. Enter your email address and create a password. Click on "Continue".
  5. Enter the confirmation code sent to your email. Click on "Continue".
  6. Select and answer five security questions. Click on "Finish".

Also, as foreign job seeker, you can apply for the Express Entry program through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Your Express Entry credentials will allow you to create a Plus account on Job Bank. This type of account gives you access to all the features available in the Standard account, plus it gives you access to Job Match.

Once you obtain your Express Entry credentials, you can create a Plus account by following these steps:

  1. Go to Job Bank for Job Seekers and click on "Sign up now!".
  2. Select "Plus Account".
  3. Read the Privacy Statement and Terms of Use. Click on "I agree".
  4. Enter your email address and create a password. Click on "Continue".
  5. Enter the confirmation code sent to your email. Click on "Continue".
  6. Select and answer five security questions. Click on "Continue".
  7. At "Step 4: User authentication", click on "I have an Express Entry profile number, and I would like to register for a Plus account on Job Bank.".
  8. Enter your personal information; if you do not have a last name, please enter your first name again under the "Last name" field.
  9. Check the "I agree" box and click on "Finish".

After creating your Plus account on Job Bank, you will have to complete your profile and create a resume. When selecting a postal code make sure to enter the one related to where in Canada you would like to work.

As an Express Entry job seeker, you will only be matched to job postings after 30 days of advertisement.

If you don’t have a Social Insurance Number (SIN) and want to create a Plus account for Job Seekers, you can apply for a SIN.
